Part 6 of our Cloud Misconceptions series focuses on your applications and specifically what applications you can and cannot use if you move into the cloud!
Moving to the cloud means I can’t use my favourite application
Software developers are working very hard to ensure their applications work with the cloud. Of course, some are moving faster than others when it comes to this process. If you’re using an application in your business and you want to utilise it with the cloud, the first thing to do is to ensure that you’re using the latest version, and if there are still issues, then you need to contact the developer and see what their cloud strategy is. Sometimes, the timeline for cloud migration of an application may be too long and then you may need to think of swapping to a similar but cloud based application. There certainly no shortage of applications that are cloud based and chances are that no matter what application you’re currently using, there will be a solution. In most cases, you’ll be able to trial this application before having to pay for it, so you should certainly take advantage of that.
