Office 365 – Microsoft’s cloud service that provides hosted versions of Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and more – was recent upgraded to what is known as Wave 15.
This upgrade includes a new look and feel as well as an interface that is optimised for tablets. It also brings new versions of Office to the desktop as well additional and revamped plans. So, in summary there have been big changes.
All users new to Office 365 will automatically receive the new version, while existing users will be upgraded progressively over time. All upgrades should take place without any interruption to business operations. In most cases prices for Office 365 have dropped with the release of this new version while the functionality has increased.
The Office 365 services provide access to the full enterprise version of Microsoft products on a per user per month basis. It provides the flexibility to mix and match requirements based on user needs and can generally be altered down the track if required.
It is also important to understand that Office 365 services can be combined with existing solutions to provide a ‘hybrid’ approach, where much of the heavy lifting for applications like email can be offloaded to the Cloud to provide greater features, reliability and security.
Correct Solutions is now seeing more and more customers shift at least some of their services to the Cloud as well taking advantage of new ones (especially the web conferencing tool Lync).
