What you may not be aware of is that each Office desktop product comes with the ability to pick from a number of different free templates when you create a new Office document. You can access this option by selecting File and then New from the menu. When you do that you should see a list of available templates as shown above from Excel.

When you list out the number of templates you will find a huge number and variety of templates that you can use. In the case of Excel you can select from invoicing, planners, journals and more.

To provide even more options you can perform an online search for a template to use and then download it for free. Once it is downloaded you simply need to select it to start using it. Also, once downloaded it will continue to be available going forward.

Each Office desktop product comes with a range or free templates that you use. This can save you a lot of time as you don’t always need to start from scratch. It is also a handy way to see how others have gone about creating Office documents. If you haven’t already, take a moment next time you are in your favourite Office application to see what free templates are available, you might be surprised at what you find.
